Marc Pingris, Hindi Ikinakahiya Ang Pagiging Kargador Bago Naging Isang Successful Na PBA player

Marc Pingris was only a porter before joining the PBA and becoming a full-fledged professional basketball player. Due to the hardships of life, he decided to work at a young age to provide for their everyday needs.

Marc stated that when his parents, Erlinda Prado and Jean Marc Pingris Sr., separated when he was only 10 years old, he realized then he needed to work or get a job despite his young age.

Marc shared,

“Back to zero ‘yung mother ko kaya sa edad kong 10, talagang batang palengke na ‘ko. Naging kargador na rin ako… mga ganon. Nagtitinda lang ako ng ice buko dati, nagtitinda ako ng kandlia, sweepstakes.”

Despite the difficulties he faced, he admitted that he was not ashamed of his “humble beginnings” as a boy in Pozzurubio, Pangasinan who became aware early of how hard life is and work at a young age because it became his inspiration to work even harder. And now that he is successful in life, he is very grateful to his Mommy Erlinda who supported and guided him and his siblings.

He said,

“At least ‘di ko naman kinakahiya ‘yung mga ganoon dahil ang sarap sa feeling na balikan kung saan ako galing kaya sobrang proud talaga ako sa mommy ko.”

When Marc looks back, he said he never had a negative feeling towards his Mommy Erlinda when she didn’t give him money when he went to Manila to try out for a basketball team and even improved himself to provide a comfortable life for his mother.

Marc continues to recount the story of his childhood days, revealing that he once ate musty rice just to satisfy his hunger, and this is said to be one of the reasons that fueled his determination to keep working toward his goal.

Marc stated,

“Iyon talaga ‘yung nagpursige sa akin na ipagpatuloy ang pangarap ko saka lagi kong iniisip kasi ‘yung mother ko that time na balang-araw gusto ko siyang bigyan ng magandang kinabukasan.”

True to his dedication to lifting his family out of poverty, he bought a house and lot with his first PBA salary, making his mother and siblings very happy.

The story of Marc Pingris is just one of the “rags-to-riches” stories, but it has had a significant impact on his fellow dreamers
