Tunay Na Kalagayan Ni Gary Valenciano Isiniwalat Ng Asawa Na Si Angeli Pangilinan

Mr. Pure Energy is the name given to singer, dancer, and total performer Gary Valenciano. This is due to the strong energy he shows whenever he performs in front of many people in shows or concerts. It doesn’t seem like he runs out of energy and doesn’t get tired even though he spends a lot of time dancing.

However, this is not always the case. They will also show signs of weakness in the body, particularly if they are overworked with tiredness or engaged in activities that might deplete their strength.

It worries fans and supporters when their idol expresses an opinion on social media, especially if it’s about how they feel about their body. This is what Gary’s fans experienced in recent days because of the cryptic post he wrote on his Twitter account.

He shared a prayer with his fans, revealing that he is suffering from another illn3ss.

He wrote in his post,

“Lord…I’m going to need your miraculous touch to get me through tonight and the next few nights to come.

“Help me not lose the sense and spirit of Christmas in the middle of all@these challenges. Kindly help in keeping me healthy at all times Lord.

“In Your name Jesus I pray, Amen.”

Many have extended their prayers for Gary’s unknown illness. However, the next day, he promptly clarified the content of his post after learning that many people were concerned about what he had said in his earlier post.

He said,

“Hi everyone. Looks like my last tweet caused many to panic. My apologies. Thanks for your genuine concernI’m on my way to getting much better friends. We all hit moments when our bodies just need to rest and i know that’s what I need. I love you all. Thanks again. I’m OK.”

Because of this, his wife and manager, Angeli Pangilinan, spoke about her husband’s post. She assured others who expressed worry about her husband that they did not need to be afraid of his situation because his condition is not serious. She also admitted that Gary sometimes forgets that he is a well-known personality and that when he speaks or writes what is on his mind, it may have a different meaning to some.

She also stated that her husband was exhausted due to his workload. He also lost his voice due to a lack of sleep. It all started with Gary’s 7city USA Tour and its Las Vegas ASAP Concert. Even though he was able to spend time with his son and some family members, his rest was still insufficient. Gary, she said, quickly went to another work when they arrived in Manila.

She shared,

“When we arrived in Manila we went straight to watch Joseph the Dreamer to watch the play so Gary could familiarize himself with the scenes … imagine this… on the day we arrived!

“We rested a day then went back the next day, Sunday to do the same. He agreed to do four showdates for two weekends but due to close to sold out shows he accomodated two more on the second weekend!”

Angeli couldn’t believe how much work her husband accomplished in only one weekend. She also wanted to keep an eye on Gary’s health, but she couldn’t because Gary cared about that project.

“Four shows in one weekend! Oh my! I was ready to picket because I wanted to guard his health but he loves that project!

“Monday the next day he was totally hoarse. I was not surprised. But a wife can only sigh and submit even if she doesn’t agree, right? (Girls can I hear an amen?!!!)

“However, the sacrifice was such a blessing. Many were moved and touched, crying with realizations and inspirational experiences.”

Angeli added that the work done by Gary does not end there.

“Then that week he sang at a wedding of a family friend (committed months before) Nov. 30, accommodated the request of a dear friend Raymond Wong to guest in the Asian TV Awards with Gab on Dec 1, performed for the finale of the BELO Medical Christmas party, went on to do ASAP rehearsals, live Sunday show, ABSCBN tapings and he ended with a tired voice.”

Angeli said,

“Even if it’s just one or two songs, the preparation is the same, although people sometimes think it’s so easy to do … simply because he makes it seem so easy when he performs.

“It is natural for a normal singer to get tired and weak and have throat issues but imagine one who has had so so many medical challenges …so sometimes God wants us to rest right?

“For a person who has been a Type 1 insulin-dependent diabetic (daily for 16,000 days !!!), my husband is a medical miracle. And I thank God all the time for keeping him alive.”

Aside from that, Angeli identifies the diseases that have befallen her spouse, and it is not data privacy because the singer is open about his condition.

“Apart from diabetes he has had hepatitis, tuberculosis, 2 arthroscopic surgeries on his knees (think of this when he jumps in the air – trivia: he was a high jumper in LSGH’s [La Salle Greenhills] track and field team), chicken pox (while recording his Shout For Joy album), a cardiac bypass (open heart surgery) on May 6, 2018, kidney cancer discovered May 23, another procedure and then partial kidney nephrectomy to take out the malignant fist-sized mass on June 13, 2018… then dengue in 2021, Covid- 19 in 2022 plus many hypoglycemia ER experiences ….whew!”

Angeli made sure that Gary was in good condition. She stated that in Gary’s mind, he is Superman, but the only thing she can do is pray for her husband’s health. Even though her heart was breaking for what Gary was going through, she could do nothing but ask the Lord for help to guide him.

Angeli also shared a biblical phrase from Philippians 4:6,7 that she uses as a reference in difficult situations in her life.

“‘Do not worry about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God, and the peace of God that transcends ALL UNDERSTANDING will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.'”

Gary was diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes at the age of 14 and has not stopped using insulin since then. It can be recalled that in 2018, he experienced chest pain. Although his heart is strong, according to the doctors, the main artery on the left side of his heart was blocked and had to be bypassed.

His operation was a success, but he was diagnosed with kidney canc3r a few months later. Because his kidney canc3r is in its early stages, he is not experiencing any symptoms. Gary had another procedure, and just 13% of his kidney was removed since the cancer cells had not spread. Gary is now cancer-free and no longer needed to undergo chemo or radiotherapy. Gary feels that his strong trust in God spared him from all of his sufferings.

The bible verse from Psalms 23:4 is ‘Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me’ is what he is holding on to now because he knows that he is in the hands of his Savior.
